Thought for now...

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root. 1000 A.D. - That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer. 1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition. Here, drink this potion. 1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil. Here, swallow this pill. 1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic. 2000 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

My First Post

Attitude and Perspective

I have been dragging my proverbial feet regarding writing for quite awhile now.  I have also spent way too much time analyzing why I haven’t been using my energy in more productive ways; self-doubt, fear, and apprehension have been contributing factors to my lack of action.  The other part is just plain laziness.

The little light bulb inside of my head finally came on.  It is time for me to do what ever I can to contribute.  Right now I may not have a lot of money but I do know how to be kind and I do know how to care.  Kindness and caring begins right here at home and the effects of it has far-reaching potential.  I want to make a positive a contribution to life and to people.

Quite frankly it is a bit difficult to maintain a good frame of mind with all of the issues that we hear about and see that are going on in the world and, at times, in our personal lives.   It is time for many of us to make some MAJOR ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS!  We can do it; we can make our personal worlds better and as we do that we will contribute to a greater whole.  Everyone experiences blocks; I guess it is time for me to let go of mine, and get on with a life that I choose to create.

I spent a great deal of my life attempting to do what I thought I was supposed to do.  I also worried a lot about what was acceptable and what other people thought about me.  Just like many people I wanted to belong and to fit in.  I don’t want to do that anymore.

It has taken me a long time figure all of this out.  Some of the things that I do have in common with people are that I am human; I have feelings, I have made mistakes (lots), I have overcome many obstacles and, by the grace of a Higher Power, I am who I am today.  Who I am today is a basically happy, well-balanced, honest, caring, human being.  I choose to have a positive influence on those I come in contact with whenever and wherever I can.

I have put a lot of time, effort, and thought into getting this site to this stage.  Much of it has been figuring out what the heck I really wanted to accomplish with it.  Included in that jumble of thought was a great deal of self-examination and self-doubt.  Was I doing it for the right reasons, was I on a huge ego trip, who did I think I was tackling something like this?  The list goes on and on.  That was then and this is now.  My goal with this site is to encourage you to make some changes and perhaps look at things a bit differently.

The year is 2009 and I am looking at the tremendous potential that we, as a human race, have.  On the outside,  many things seem to be very bleak.  The US economy seems to be in a huge mess.  The jobless rate is higher than it has been in many years.  On a worldwide level there are many similar issues, including but not limited to, wars between countries, threats of wars in others, some people are thriving where too many others are living in poverty and Global Warming.  Prejudices of various types abound; the list goes on and on.

Now, more than ever before in our collective history, we have the opportunity to make some drastic and valuable changes that will serve this generation and generations that will follow.  Our contributions will also allow for the development of other planets, at least as a starting point.  This may seem a bit far fetched, but so did landing on the moon, Internet Communication, navigation via satellite (GPS), and cell phone communication to mention a few.

Everything begins with a thought.  I thought and thought before I actually started writing this article, I changed my mind several times, and I also procrastinated a lot!  Guess what, I had to get over it and just do it.  If you like what I have to say that’s great and if you don’t like it that’s okay too.  You see at least I am doing something to try and help this world become a better place.  I also hope this helps you to become a happier and more fulfilled you.

Let’s continue on this exciting journey together as a team!!
